Yellow Tube Sponge

Collection

During my time in Grand Cayman, I had the opportunity to explore photogrammetry—a technique used for creating 3D models by compiling and scanning photographs of objects. Eager to apply this method in the field, I took it underwater while scuba diving. Below are six detailed scans I created of yellow tube sponges (Aplysina fistularis) at the Japanese Gardens dive site in Crawl Bay, near Grand Cayman.

While applying this method in the field, I also recorded depth, location, and water temperature during each scan.

NOTE: These 3D models have been simplified for your viewing. If you would like the full detailed model, please contact me.
